The First in Armenia
The First Cultural Channel
Pan-Armenian Television |
The programs of the Public television on the territory of Armenia are broadcasted through the radio link and satellite receiver network spread all over the country.
Today, the programs of H1 can be viewed on the entire territory of Armenia, Javakhq(Georgia) and Artsakh(Nagorno-Karabakh Republic).
In 1957, during the first years of Armenian TV establishment, when there were only 250 TV sets in the country, the programs could be viewed only in Yerevan and adjacent territories not far than 60 kilometers from Yerevan. Serious technical improvements took place in the 70-ies. Kapan-Yerevan Radio relay link launched in 1970 allowed the people of Zangezour to view 2 TV channels. Starting from May 1971 the entire Shirak valley could see the programs broadcasted from Yerevan and Moscow, and from January 1973 the population of Vayk as well. On November 29, 1977 a new 311.7 meter high TV tower was launched as well as "Orbita 2" space station, that allowed to broadcast on almost the entire territory of the country. Today H1 is a channel with the largest broadcast area not only in Armenia, but in the entire South Caucasus.
The first Armenian cultural TV channel Ararat came on the air on September 21, 2008 together with the beginning of the 52nd TV season of the Armenian Public TV.
Not all the countries can manage such a channel and not all the nations have so rich a cultural heritage as the Armenians do.
From revelation of daily cultural events to discussions on different branches of art, documentary and historical feature films. This and much more you can watch every day on Ararat.
Together with Zara Karapetyan you can reveal “Thousand secrets of the cuisine”; Henrik Hovhannissyan will open up the doors of the wonderful Armenian language in “Ayb, Ben, Gim”, “Mshak” will let you know about the cultural events of the day, while Marat Ordyan will hold various cultural discussions in “Vernatun”.
Bear the Armenian culture together with Ararat and raise generations in its spirit.
Today Armenian Public Television can be watched in Europe, North America and Australia. From February 2005 satellite broadcasting of Panarmenian television is carried out using ultra-modern satellites. Our programs are broadcast with EutelSat, W1 and Hot Bird 6 satellites. For broadcasting in USA we use Intelsat Americas 5 satellite.
Today Armenian Public Television has the largest coverage in Armenia. We are one of those unique TV companies that have the same number of TV viewers in and out of the country.
By the decision of RA government, the implementation of satellite broadcasting project of Armenian Public Television started in 1997. By the contract signed on February 24, 1999 between the Ministry of Transport and Communication of Armenia and Italian "Telespasio" company the First channel started to be broadcast with satellite communication covering European countries, the Middle East and North Africa. Thanks to the "Hot Bird 3" satellite our channel can be watched in former USSR Central Asian countries.
As a result of the contract signed by the Armenian Public Television and " GlobeCast" company, Armenian programs started to be broadcast in the USA and Canada. Taking into account the peculiarities of broadcasting in the USA, Panarmenian television is broadcast in two variants: by installing a satellite receiver, by connecting to Intelsat Americas 5 satellite or by subscribing to the Charter System network.
